Gilbird Shimeji

I made this little guy on Saturday. He was really easy to make and he's just as cute!

Hopefully you guys know how to use a shimeji, but if not, it's really simple!

Shimejis WILL on a mac now! Look down in the comments for how to make it work. It's super easy!!! Also, you must make sure your version of Java is up to date (mac and windows).

First you want to download the file. The link to download it is to the right of the screen-cap I have posted for the file preview. It says download, in GREAT BIG LETTERS. You can't miss it (and if you do come on seriously??? fuckin look around)

After that, you want to unzip the .zip file. Windows computers almost always have a component in them that can do it. If not, I suggest you find a program that can unzip folders for you (like peazip, or winzip). To unzip it, you can right click on the .zip file and then click the option that says something along the lines of "open archive" or "unzip". You'll know it when you see it. After that is said and done, you want to go to the unzipped file and open it. When inside, you should have only a handful of files. The file you want is titled "shimeji.exe". Double click on shimeji.exe and a little icon will pop up in that area where your computer shows you the time, and then one of them will fall from the top of the monitor.

IF THE SHIMEJI DOES NOT LOAD

If your shimeji does not load, don't worry! It's a really easy fix, especially if you have other shimejis that DO load.
First off, you want to make sure Java is up to date. If it is, you're almost done!
What you want to do is replace all of the files except the folder titled "img". That contains the shimeji itself. Now, if you already have a shimeji you know works on your computer, copy all of its files except the one titled "img". Go back to the new shimeji (the one that doesn't work) and delete all the files except the one titled "img". After that, paste the ones you just copied. Double click shimeji.exe and it should run!
If you don't have a shimeji, find some ones that you like, download them (repeating the steps I have listed above before this section) and test them to see if they work. If they do, then just follow the instructions above and you should be good to go!

IF THAT DOESN'T WORK...
go to the folder named conf
there are two XML files, one is 43kb and the other is 10kb
name the 43kb file 動作
name the 10kb file 行動
sometimes the file names don't translate and they turn into gibberish. Changing those should help!!!


The menu when you right click on the icon that appears with your shimeji (on the task bar, near the time) goes as follows:

1. Adds one more shimeji
2. Calls them all over to your pointer (mouse)
3. Deletes all but one
4. Brings back windows after they kick them away ( or in Gilbird's case, headbutts them away! )
5. Exit/Close Program
